The Stasi Records Archive supports the political and historical reappraisal of the activities of the MfS the power mechanisms in both the former GDR and Soviet zone of occupation and National Socialist past.

In general filming and taking photos on the premises of the Stasi Records Archive is permitted as long as it serves the purpose of historical reappraisal. And is must be in accordance with the provisions of the Stasi Records Act (StUG) and the German Data Protection Act (BDSG).
The Press Office issues permits to film and photograph on the premises of the Stasi Records Archive. The prerequisites for this are:
Filming permits are not issued for commercial film projects in which the federal agency’s premises serve as the backdrop to subjects unrelated to its reappraisal work.
In general filming and taking photos on the premises of the Stasi Records Archive is permitted as long as it serves the purpose of historical reappraisal.

Ein Karteipaternoster im Stasi-Unterlagen-Archiv in Berlin. In diesen spezialisierten Schränken lagern Millionen von Karteikarten, die einst die Stasi als Findmittel für die Inhalte ihrer Ablagen und Archive anlegte. Sie dienen bis heute als wichtiges Werkzeug zur Recherche in den Beständen des Archivs.
